This may be a Really dumb Question, but I gotta ask it.
WHAT does the term IOPS "Really" Mean ?
I know, I Know...Input Output per second, but WHAT is an IO ?
The main issue is an IO 1byte, 1KB, 1 sector, or what ?
I need to estimate how long it's going to take to move 1GB of data from
Point A to B.
I intend to use DISK Specs of my 15k Drives to do this.
I estimate my drives to be capable of 128 IOPS.
so the golden question...128 WHAT ?
GAJHi
There are so many factors that affect IO performance. OS cache, disk
controller cach, RAID levels etc.
IO/sec does not help. Look at Disk "external transfer rate" to get a good
idea.
