disable netbios over tcpip

I have a win 2003 member server with sql server 2000 on a windows nt 4.0
domain.
If I disable the netbios oveer tcpip on win 2003 server i cannot connect
anymore to the sql server.
Maybe because i'm working on a win nt 4.0 domain ?Use the server network utility on your SQL Server box and enable TCP/IP.

I have two WINS server, the primary on the Win NT 4.0 BDC the secondary on the

4.0 domain PDC, the SQL windows authentication need NETBIOS to be enabled on
the member server in order to authenticate the user on Win NT 4.0 PDC.
Is it right ?

controller for authentication (in Windows authentication mode). Since you're
on NT4, Netbios is needed to talk to the DC.
There are a few options here:
1. Enable Netbios on SQL Server so you can get authenticated by NT4 DC
2. Disable Netbios on SQL Server but you must use SQL authentication
3. Upgrade your network to NT5+

I suppose it, and now I have the confirmation. Perhaps I can upgrade only
the member server ro Win2003. About the domain controller I have to wait a
more wide upgrade.
Ciao Marco
